You Can Finally Get Your Milk Bar Fix in L.A. (but Just for One Weekend)

Very important dessert news

Chef Christina Tosi’s famed New York-based bakery Milk Bar will be opening a full location in L.A. in the new year, but it’s still weeks (potentially months!) before those doors open. So, to appease all the Angelenos who are already chomping at the bit to get their hands on cereal-milk soft-serve ice cream, cornflake cookies, and other Milk Bar treats, the team is rolling into L.A. for two December pop-ups.

First, the sweet squad will be pairing up with their buddies from Jon & Vinny’s (412 N. Fairfax Ave) on Friday, December 15, for that they’re calling a Backyard Besties Bake Sale. Running 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., attendees will be able to meet the chefs, drop into a fun photobooth, and pick up baked goods, books, and gifts. There will even be free tote bags for the first 50 folks in line—and even if you don’t feel like you ned another tote, you might want to arrive early because event organizers are predicting these tasty offerings may sell out fast.

Milk Bar will also be at Smorgasburg (ROW DTLA, 785 Bay Street) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, December 17. Tosi’s team is collaborating with NoMad Truck, which will also be serving its full standard menu should you want something savory before you dive into the sugar. Making the deal even sweeter, the first 50 customers will get a free gift with their Milk Bar purchase. Note: After this one, the Smorgasburg goes on a holiday vacation, reopening January 14.
