Steak lovers listen up: Pasadena is gaining a new temple of meat in the middle of this month, thanks to forthcoming restaurant Meat District Co.
Opening in the former Xiomara space in Old Town Pasadena, Meat District Co. — which is part of the Platinum Restaurant Group, an Australian-based company — is billing itself as a “modern nod to old school butchers,” with glass cases prominently featuring hanging cured meats. In-house butchers will be on site choosing and dry-aging premium cuts. Fare will include natural (hormone, steroid and antibiotic free) beef burgers, prime steer steaks and ribs, free range chicken, and pulled lamb and pork shoulder. Truly, a meat lover’s paradise (located just around the corner from burger hotspot Slater’s 50/50 too).
High-quality steaks ranging from sirloins to rib-eyes will start at $18, making this an affordable steakhouse option for those who may not have the deep pockets to reserve a spot at revered places like CUT or Morton’s. And for something lighter, you can always order a plate of house-made charcuterie to pair with craft beer or wine.
