Just in time for lazy summer weekends, Manhattan Beach’s Love & Salt is set to launch a new brunch menu. Starting next Saturday, June 6, the Italian-inspired restaurant from owners Guy and Sylvie Gabriele will be serving a tempting array of sweet and savory dishes including, of course, those famous house-made buttermilk English muffins that we can never seem to eject from our consciousness.
Chef Michael Fiorelli says the new menu was designed to reflect Angelenos’ well-known passion for brunching. In an attempt to satisfy our deepest cravings, Fiorelli will be serving up very sharable dishes, like thick slabs of strawberry-topped ciabatta toast dripping with Nuttela and a dash of salt; a smoked fish board display of gravlax, smoked trout, white fish salad, smoked fish dip, and bagels studded with everything; and herb-y eggs baked with roasted eggplant, green olives, tomato, and parmesan.
Pizza and pasta will also make a showing—the bucatini with black kale and fennel sausage looks particularly promising while wood-oven Duck Egg Pizza with pancetta, panna, and potatoes is certainly fuel for food-obsessed imaginations. There’s also a selection of sandwiches and paninis, plus lighter fare, like the Five Grain Salad with fresh goat cheese. If you go for the latter, you might still have room for warm cinnamon coffee cake or the bomboli with lemon curd and strawberry jam.
Caffe Luxxe French-press coffee and Dandelion Tea will be available, and consulting bartender Vincenzo Marianella has dreamed up a list of cocktails, featuring the always (brunch) apropos Aperol Spritz or Pisco Sour along with originals, like the wink-wink mix of tequila reposado, St. Germain, ruby grapefruit juice, and sparkling wine named the Walk of Shame and the When in Rum, a dark rum drink punched up with almond liqueur, cilantro, lemon juice, and coconut water.
Love & Salt 317 Manhattan Beach Blvd, Manhattan Beach; 310- 545-5252. Brunch goes from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, starting June 6.
