If you want to “kick it” like A Tribe Called Quest does, just follow the lead of Roy Choi. For those of you who’ve dined at POT, you should be well aware by now of Choi’s professed love of hip hop. Hits from artists that span from Danny Brown to Pharcyde thump in the Line Hotel lobby or restaurant on a regular basis.
In what I can only imagine as a dream come true, Choi has teamed up with founding member of A Tribe Called Quest Jarobi White for a special pop-up at POT. The dinner will take place tonight, starting at 6 p.m. Details are sparse, but here’s what we know: for one night only, White will prepare a Korean soul food menu that is available on a first come, first serve basis until the food runs out. Alongside White’s special menu, you’ll be able to order standard POT offerings. DJ Rhettmatic of the renowned troupe The Beat Junkies will provide the music.
Judging by White’s adventures on Twitter—and his most recent pictures of prawns and kimchi fried rice—the man is passionate about his food. “This is just my hip hop self throwing a party,” said Choi in an email about the collaboration. “Spark a bowl, pop a beer, and just relax and enjoy.”
