It’s Raining Food, Hallelujah!

In L.A., you either love or hate the rain. (A lot of it may have to do with your proximity to, say, La Canada Flintridge). Me? I love it. Rain gives me a chance to make beefy stews, listen to sad music, and bust out this bright-red vintage raincoat that I love more than my cast-iron skillet and stash of fennel pollen, combined. But whatever your own feelings on outerwear, two L.A. eateries are giving everyone a belly-warming reason to do the rain dance.

Last week, Vu restaurant  in Marina Del Rey announced the “When It Rains, We POUR” special, featuring a selection of wines for and beers for $2. Need something stronger? The new molecular gastronomy destination serves up two warm cocktails—the Blood Orange Rum Toddy and the Coco MdR—for just four bucks as well.

In addition, Ricky’s Fish Tacos  in Los Feliz—star of our Mexican Food Issue—gives out one free (and friggin’ delicious) Ensenada-style fish taco whenever the rain clouds gather, knees start aching, or whichever comes first.

With drizzles in the forecast as early as this afternoon, we’re already hungry.
