Seafood Watch 3.0 adds a spiffy mapping feature.
If you’re like us, you have a tattered version of the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch sustainable seafood guide folded (if you can call it that) inside your wallet. If you’re like the rest of the world, you downloaded it last year as a handy app on your preferred mobile device. Well, the newest digital version is just out and features a useful mapping feature called Project Fishmap, which points out every place to find wild-caught sardines within a ten-mile radius. Well, not quite, but with help from the public (that’s you!) the app is adding new ocean-friendly seafood sources every day. Aside from markets, local restaurants like Eva, Petrossian, the Belvedere, and Michael’s get shout outs for their sustainable stock. Should you happen to stumble across another eatery touting its love for the ocean’s creatures, you can submit new locations as well. (We just added Providence —now you go.)
