The Hall at Palihouse—in my estimation the most underrated of the fancy nouveau brasseries—is debuting their monthly winemaker’s dinner next Tuesday, July 15. This first gig features wines from vintner Dave Corey of Core Wines up in Los Olivos.
The menu is here. The cost: $75 per person. Reservations required.

a blend of white & red Rhone grapes
Sweet Corn Tortellini

2006 Core White

green pea puree / tri-color cauliflower
2006 C3 Tempranillo by Core

crispy fingerlings / frisée / chives
2006 Kuyam Thirteen Moons by Core
a Bordeaux-style blend of merlot, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc & malbec
Chocolate Ganache Cake

On a side note, I recently discovered that the Hall has one of the best upscale brunch deals in town: nice outdoor courtyard, super thick lemon ricotta French toast, hefty cast iron egg dishes with short ribs, boudin noir with scrambled eggs and croissant—all priced around $10. Oh, did I mention one of the best bloody marys I’ve had in a while? FYI.
