Looks like chef Govind Armstrong’s (8 oz. Burger Bar, Table 8) pioneering Baldwin Hills venture has finally set a date. The architecturally inspired Post & Beam plans to open its doors to the neighborhood on January 10. In our January issue (on stands now!) Armstrong talks about the new spot: “There’s a wood-fired oven and a decent amount of land on which we’ll be growing seasonal stuff.” Indeed the menu will feature a slew of vegetable small plates as well as pizzas from the wood-burning oven, sticky ribs, and wines and craft beers. Post & Beam will be open dinner only to start, with bar hours beginning at 5 p.m. and the kitchen firing up around 5:30.
“Most people say, ‘Oh yeah, Baldwin Hills—where is that exactly?” says Armstrong. “And they’ve lived here for 15 years!” This place might just change that.
