This Art Deco Gem of a Bar in Historic Filipinotown Is Slinging Swanky Drinks

You deserve a little bit of glamour

Of all the gin joints in all of L.A., we were glad to walk into this one. Genever is an Art Deco hideaway in Historic Filipino town run by Roselma Samala, Christine Sumiller, and Patricia Perez, a trio of friends who funded their bar with a 2015 Kickstarter campaign.

The bottle list is impressive—try the Dutch proto-gin genever—but it’s the smooth cocktails that’ll have us returning for another round.

The Scene

Office dwellers and young couples looking glam under sparkly chandeliers while munching garlicky Filipino corn nuts.

The Drinks

Served in a ceramic koi mug, the Diamonds and Pearls blends green tea-infused gin, coconut, pandan leaf, calamansi, matcha powder, and palm starch. Feeling classic? Try the Hello, Suckers! a Plymouth gin martini with a dram of vermouth to add as desired.

Genever, 3123 Beverly Blvd., Westlake.
