James Carling is intent on creating liqueurs from every Ventura fruit—“Well, except avocados.” His wife, Italy native Manuela Zaretti-Carling, is more of a limoncello classicist. The couple’s latest dinner table compromise? An intensely fruity blood orange liqueur with a pleasantly bitter finish. The canary-colored digestif (only the peels are used) is made in small batches from area-grown citrus.
