Food Flick Friday: Haute Cuisine

The story of former French President Francois Mitterrand’s personal chef

François Mitterrand served as president of France for a record 14 years, from 1981 until 1995. Within that time, he made friends with communists and socialists, supported the arts with strong government-backed investments, and fathered a daughter who was kept secret until long after his death. He also craved the food of his childhood, and was the first president to hire a female chef to run the presidental kitchen. The new film Haute Cuisine, out today, puts a dramatic spin on the story of Mitterrand’s private chef Daniele Delpheuch. Cuisine begins showing tonight at West L.A.’s Nuart Theatre.
