Food Comedy at the Standard Hollywood, Coolhaus Anniversary Party, and More!

A guide to the upcoming week’s most delicious happenings

Eat Your Words at the Standard — 5/1
The first Thursday of every month, the Standard Hollywood’s Cactus Lounge hosts Eat Your Words, a food-themed comedy show. The laugh-fest features a panel of foodies and comedians who discuss everything and anything food-related. This week’s show is hosted by comedian Greg Walloch, and features guest appearances by funny gal Jodi Miller and our own cocktail blogger extraordinaire Caroline on Crack. Reservations are required. More information.

Coolhaus Fifth Anniversary Party — 5/2
Natasha Case and Freya Estreller of kooky local ice cream company, Coolhaus, have a few reasons to bust out the champagne on their five-year anniversary: They expanded to New York, opened two brick-and-mortar locations in L.A., recently partnered with Umami Restaurant Group, and penned a cookbook that’s out next month. Now they’re inviting you to join the celebration at downtown’s Unique Space. For $65, partygoers receive a Coolhaus mason jar for filling at the open bar, fried chicken, pizza, eclectic ice cream treats, a copy of their cookbook, and a tote bag filled with various freebies. Bonus: They’ve even arranged Uber discounts for the heavy-duty partiers. More information.

Cinco de Mayo Mayhem — 5/5
Dancing, binge taco eating, and excessive tequila drinking: why wouldn’t we party on May 5 every year? For those of you that like to take discount Cuervo shots and gorge on discounted chimichangas to commemorate the holiday, we’ve put together a list of L.A.’s top fiestas. More information.
