Can your zodiac sign predict your favorite place to eat? We asked Aliza Kelly, author of The Mixology of Astrology: Cosmic Cocktail Recipes for Every Sign and Starring You: A Guided Journey Through Astrology, to match starry personalities to cuisines and vibes. With Kelly’s knowledge of the stars, we’ve developed your L.A. guide to food astrology.
With all this pent-up, ready-to-pop-off energy, it’s no wonder that when an Aries is down to chow they want fresh, exciting, and spicy flavors. Kelly says, “Aries culinary choices correspond with their temperament: they often love flavorful food that is bold, spicy, and dynamic.”
Let’s just like stay in bed and watch rom-coms, maybe order food? But from where is the real question with these comfort-loving bulls. “Taurus love anything that makes them feel safe and cozy” Kelly says, “so these bulls are absolutely all about their comfort food!” Mosey on over to some comfort restaurants catered to the sleepy Taurus or better yet, call for delivery!
No, they won’t stop gossiping about Hannah from work. However, the twins do know how to get people together especially if it can combine eating some food with spilling the tea. “Without the social aspect, this air sign forgets to eat,” Kelly exclaims. But since they’re fickle creatures prone to changing their mind about any order, “shared plates are a Gemini’s jam.”
“This water sign gravitates towards food that is made with love.” Kelly encourages anyone dining with a Cancer to “have a sweet-spot for baked goods, as they appreciate the time and care that goes into crafting delicious treats.” Snuggle up next to these emotional bugs at restaurants with a homemade feel.
According to Kelly, “aesthetics are everything for a Leo, so their culinary preferences are always informed by their favorite restaurant ambiance.” Seek out a swanky spot–with great food, decor, and a happening scene–to satisfy Leo’s hunger for the ostentatious.
Virgos like to see everything precisely in its place, and food is no exception. “They’re meticulous and enjoy contemplating the process of how their meals were constructed,” Kelly says. Dining with a Virgo is best with cleanliness and order to be sure that their need to see their food develop with flavor and organization is met.
Fond of a stylish and trendy Instagram aesthetic, “Libras wants their food to look as good as it tastes,” Aliza explains that “presentation is extremely important for these celestial aesthetes.” So be prepared to look chic with your fashion-savvy friend and nibble on snacks that are equally chic.
That Scorpio standing in the corner wearing all black is sooo mysterious, right? “These elusive water signs gravitate towards bars and restaurants that have an air of intrigue,” according to Kelly. Pick a speakeasy or intriguing destination, as these scorpions “love to be spellbound.”
“The explorers of the zodiac, these fire signs are always down to try cuisines from other cultures.” Kelly urges sociable centaurs to find food from around the world–”including their own country of origin!” Send a text to everyone in the contact list, it’s a Sagittarian feast!
Time is of the essence for Capricorns, who barely have time to pencil in a dinner date. “Capricorn is always efficient, so this hardworking earth sign sees food as fuel.” Kelly mentions that, if you can pin them down, “they’re down to splurge on a luxurious meal every now and then, but only if the occasion calls for it.” Be sure to give them a two-week notice before making plans.
They’re not like any other sign in the zodiac, says Kelly. “Aquarians are visionaries. This progressive air sign is interested by innovative cuisines and revolutionary cooking styes.” Make sure to take them somewhere where the food is is as interesting as the conversation.
What kind of food feels good? Pisces are always driven by their emotions. “Pisces are connected to the ocean, so seafood is a perfect culinary fit,” Kelly guides. Sitting by the sea–or simply eating the fruits of it–should go over swimmingly.
