What: Chef Morihiro Onodera (formerly of Mori Sushi) joins chef and owner of Santa Monica’s La Botte, Stefano De Lorenzo, for a two night tasting menu exploring the two starred chefs’ cuisines. Called “Chef Squared” the exclusive event will also feature the craftsmanship of Mori’s hand-made ceramic plates and servingware. How will hearty Italian food pair with minimalist, delicate Japanese cuisine at the hands of Morisan? Here’s a sneak peek at the menu:
Matsutake mushrooms, Parmesan broth
Trout, morel and shiitake
White truffle risotto, sea weed broth (first crop rice from Mori’s farm, Uruguay)
Duck ravioli, Tokyo negi, espresso sauce, grapes
Almond milk sorbet
Branzino, tomato water
Oxtail, daikon, nasturtium flower
When: Friday, October 18 and Saturday, October 19 for dinner.
Where: La Botte, 620 Santa Monica Blvd., Santa Monica.
How: Reservations must be made in advance. Dinner, exclusive of wine, tax, and tip is $125 per person.
