Do you love drinking cocktails in sun-drenched gardens, watching demonstrations by some of L.A.’s best chefs, and helping out an organization that has been saving the lives of local at-risk youths for almost a century? Of course you do! This Saturday September 19 from 5:00-9:30 p.m. at Robinson Gardens in Beverly Hills, El Nido Family Centers will be hosting its Garden Gala to celebrate 90 years of service to the community. Cooking for the crowd will be Loteria Grill’s executive chef Jimmy Shaw, Top Chef alum Betty Fraser, Hugo’s chef de cuisine Nabor Prado-Diaz, and many more.
The spotlight will be on El Nido’s newly launched “Garden to Table” program that provides training and mentorship with the culinary industry through urban gardening, cooking, and restaurant management. Youth in the Garden to Table program will be assisting the all-star cast of chefs in their cooking demos, and students from El Nido’s Urban Gardening program will also be sharing some home gardening tips. There will be artwork on display from El Nido’s Gang Reduction Youth Development Program, and photos from the exhibit “Two Neighborhoods—One Vision” will be available for a donation. Cocktails will be provided by Bombay Sapphire gin.
So come, grab a cocktail, eat some food, learn why your backyard tomatoes never come in quite as robust as you’d like them to, and benefit a great cause in the process. You can purchase tickets right here.
