As reported by the Chicago Tribune, McDonald’s is considering losing one slice of “cheese” from its famous Double Cheeseburger in order to keep it on their ever-more-popular Dollar Menu. The chain’s marketing VP says that with sales down and cheese prices soaring (does that even qualify as cheese?) it may be necessary to up the price of the two-slice Double Cheeseburger to $1.19 and create a one-slice version, called the McDouble, that would remain on the Dollar Menu.
My god, has it come to this? What’s next—the Bic Mac’s Special Sauce will be downgraded to just “sauce”? The sesame seed bun de-seeded? It’s a slippery slope, and we’re sliding down it.
