As if we needed another reason to love Cacao Mexicatessen in Eagle Rock, Grub Street LA reports that the construction that’s been underway for the better part of the year is to create an expanded bar, featuring wines from Mexico and Mexican-American owned wineries here in the States.
Already a fan of their brilliant food, not to mention their excellent coffee drinks like the Azteca mocha latte pictured above—made with Oaxacan cocoa, sugar, cinnamon, almonds, chile de arbol, and espresso—we’re looking forward to the debut of the attached wine bar come mid-February. The space will reflect owner David Lujan’s vision of what a 1940s-themed Mexican wine bar might look like, and will offer happy hour specials once open.
While Mexican craft beers will also be available, like those from Cerveza Tijuana, we’re keeping our fingers crossed that they keep some local L.A. craft beers on too, like the delicious Eagle Rock Manifesto they’ve got on now. [Grub Street LA]
