Butterbeer Is Now Being Served Correctly at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter

A hot version is on tap at the Three Broomsticks

“Harry and Hermione made their way to the back of the room, where there was a small, vacant table between the window and a handsome Christmas tree, which stood next to the fireplace. Ron came back five minutes later, carrying three foaming tankards of hot butterbeer. “Merry Christmas!” he said happily, raising his tankard. Harry drank deeply. It was the most delicious thing he’d ever a tasted and seemed to heat every bit of him from the inside.” —Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Did somebody spike my coffee with Felix Felicis? Or is it just the best day ever? It was announced today that hot butterbeer—the preferred beverage in the Harry Potter universe that, based on JK Rowling’s description, tastes like every good day you’ve ever had soaked in joy and then wrapped in enchantment—will be available seasonally at the Three Broomsticks in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

The theme park already offers carbonated (below) and frozen versions of the drink, which is all fine and good. But if we’re taking accuracy into account, which we are, we know that Madam Rosmerta’s butterbeer is served warm in the books. The park has already gone to great lengths to stay faithful to the series, so the arrival of a JK Rowling-approved version at Universal Studios only adds to the illusion that we can all quit our jobs and go live at Hogwarts. Cheers to that.

The fizzy version of butterbeer is still available, too, so don't get your wand in a knot.
