Where: Mexikosher, the kosher-certified taqueria from Top Chef alum and current Top Chef Mexico contestant Katsuji Tanabe on the corner of Pico and Robertson.
When: Wednesday at noon because you parked in a two-hour zone at 10 a.m. and had to move your car, which, like, might as well be the excuse you need to go grab a burrito.
The Final Bite: As long as you’re not married to the idea of cheese on your meat, Mexikosher does a really solid rendition of the Chipotle-style, build-it-yourself Mission burrito. The birria is tender and packed full of chili flavor, the pickled radishes add that pop of funk and acid, and all the individual components mesh to create a cohesive tortilla-wrapped flavor bomb. Bonus points for having nine different salsas and sauces in squeeze bottles for maximum customization. The food can be a bit pricier than you might be used to, but kosher meat and fresh-made tortillas don’t come cheap.
