Saturday is Pi Day, the numerically pleasing date of 3/14/15. But you know what’s better than math? Pie. And what’s better than pie? Beer pie.
Redondo Beach’s King Harbor Brewing Company is marking Pi Day with sweet and savory pies and even a pie-eating contest. Studio City’s Pi Bake Shop will be at the brewery serving pies from noon to 4 p.m. You can, of course, pair your pie with beers (pies and beers range from $4 to $12). Or enjoy your beer inside your pie with special creations like a pecan pie with King Harbor’s The Swirly American Brown Ale or a s’mores pie with King Harbor’s Abel Brown Ale.
The pie-eating contest, with six contestants devouring all they can in 90 seconds with their hands tied behind their backs, will be at 3 p.m. The winner gets prizes including beer and pie.
