We’re not sure how the Chinese will feel about this, but we certainly like it. Chef Micah Wexler’s Mezze will host a Jewish Christmas Eve feast on December 24. Say what? It makes perfect sense, actually. Christmas Eve is the biggest dining-out night of the year for much of the Jewish community. (For an extensive breakdown of the Jewish-Chinese Food-Christmas Eve connection, read “Kung Pow Kosher,” comedian Jeffrey Ross’s explanation from our Chinese Food issue.) Now, you’ve got a fine dining destination specializing in Middle Eastern cuisine offering some upscale Jewish classics to the city’s Christmas-free masses. That’s quite the mitzvah, Mr. Wexler. As for the menu, expect noshes like chicken livers, sablefish, and matzo ball soup (full menu below). L’chiam!
