From flying food to arts and culture, we found five great things for you to do this weekend.

1. Manhattan Beach Open
Little-known fact: Osama bin Laden was a wicked volleyball player; even in his Abbottabad compound, the six-foot-plus terrorist was rumored to have his own court. The FBI can’t confirm he watched the Manhattan Beach Open, but you can witness bronzed bodies as they bump, set, and spike. Do it for America. Friday, August 24 to Sunday, August 26; 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Manhattan Beach. More information

2. PopUp Dinner L.A. : Evening in White
The flash mob of food, this PopUp dinner’s secret location will only be revealed a few hours before you show up (dressed all in your elegant whites) with your own food and beverages to enjoy a flash dinner picnic, then disappear–leaving no trace! Make sure to bring your own wine and champagne to add extra class to the affair. Saturday, August 25; 5-11 p.m. Location TBA. More information

3. H2O Music Festival
What do John Legend, Snoop Dogg, Paulina Rubio and Gym Class Heroes have in common? They’re all performing at Univision Radio’s H2O Music Festival to celebrate the Hispanic 2.0 movement. Check it out and there might be some head bobbing and booty shaking in your future. Saturday, August 25; 3 p.m. Los Angeles State Historic Park. More information
4. Tomato Battle
No need to star in a slapstick comedy to have tomatoes launched at your mug. At this 5,000-strong food fight, dodge those squishy grenades—or embrace the mess and become human ragù. Saturday, August 25, 2012; 12-6 p.m. Irvine Lake. More information

5. Slangfest 2
Wilmington arts collective Slanguage’s monthlong takeover of the gallery culminates in a daylong festival of music, workshops, and food trucks. If you like the cars that go boom, Scott Benzel and Mark Hagen will drop Richter-scale bass blasts from a wrecked car turned sound system. Saturday, August 25, 2012; 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. LAXART.
