Two Bands You Can’t Miss at 30 Days in L.A.

A solo artist and a jazz trio rise above the din of more than 60 artists

Unexpected music is what I care about these days. If you’re the same, don’t miss Red Bull Sound Select’s “30 Days in L.A.,” featuring more than 60 artists. The conceit: Up-and-comers (Oshun, Young Magic) are paired with heavy hitters (Vince Staples, Joey Bada$$) in an array of venues each night this month. Give Gallant a listen before his gig on November 14 at the Ace Hotel. It will be clear from his cover of the Foo Fighters’ “Learn to Fly” that he’s well on his way to fame. Instrumental jazz trio BadBadNotGood doesn’t shy away from collaborations, joining forces with artists like Frank Ocean and Wu-Tang Clan’s Ghostface Killah. They’ll fuse hip-hop with jazz improvisation on November 20 at the Tower Theater.
