Here are our picks for this weekend’s five best events.

1. Sunset Strip Music Festival
Don’t pretend you’re not interested in walking down a closed Sunset Blvd. with thousands of other music fans, all vying to watch more than 70 bands play in venues like the Key Club, the Roxy, the Whisky, and on two outdoor stages. We’ll understand if you wake up Sunday and your entire body is sore. Saturday, Aug. 18; 1-11 p.m. Sunset Strip between Doheny and San Vicente. More information

2. Hester Goes Hollywood
The Lower East Side’s bustling Hester Street Fair heads west. Peruse the wares of L.A. artisans and independent designers on Aug. 18, then return on Aug. 25 for craft beers paired with locally sourced musicians. More information

3. L.A. Craft Beer Crawl
Take the words “beer crawl” and throw in seven of downtown L.A.’s top nightlife spots (Seven Grand, Las Perlas, Cana Rum Bar, Casey’s Irish Pub, etc.), plus a bevvy of food trucks, and you’ve made it. You’ve seen the inside of Hanger 18, mastered the puzzle of the crystal skulls, and found Atlantis. Amazing opportunities shouldn’t be taken lightly. Saturday, Aug. 18; 3-7 p.m. DTLA. More information

4. Haunts of A Dirty Old Man: Charles Bukowski’s Los Angeles
One great way to impress a lady or get a guy to pay attention: Listing the jaunts of one of L.A.’s most famous authors, who also knew a bit about booze and women… Culture and fun, yin and yang. We guarantee an awesome crowd on this tour, which will take you to the Buk’s favorite L.A. spots via bus. Food and drink are encouraged. Saturday, Aug. 18; 12-4 p.m. Starts at Philippe the Original. More information

5. Cause for Creativity: Tour da Arts, vol. 4
Ever pop a wheelie while gazing at a painting? Finally you can live the dream at the annual event that turns a bike ride into an arts excursion. If you’re the audio guide type, perhaps you can coax a docent to sit on your handlebars and narrate while you pedal. Sunday, Aug. 19; 2-6 p.m. Santa Monica Museum of Art. More information

Runner Up
Rose Park Bluegrass Festival
Summer is about being outside, listening to music, eating great food, and being active. What’s that? We’re missing something? Oh, yeah. Summer is also about music. When four streets in Long Beach collide in a round park, and you combine all of the above with craft vendors, a battle of the banjos, and pie-eating contest, you win at life. Sunday, Aug. 19; 12 p.m. Rose Park, Long Beach. More information
