A Jack Johnson concert on the Santa Monica pier is a no-brainer. But the just-announced show to be held on the beach Monday, May 24 in support of the singer-surfer’s new album, To the Sea, is more than that: it’s free.
There is one catch, of course. Fans will need to join Johnson’s All At Once Community and Heal the Bay for a two-hour beach cleanup on Saturday, May 22 to snag tickets. Actually there are a few other ways to get in the “door”: KROQ, KCRW, and 98.7 will be giving away tickets to listeners, Amoeba Music in Hollywood and Fingerprints in Long Beach will offer tickets to their first 100 customers to preorder To the Sea, and Johnson himself will award a set of tickets on Twitter every day leading up to the concert. Still, we think the beach cleanup, which you can pre-register for here, is the way to go. It’s an important, good thing to do, and we’ve got beaches on the brain.
