The Walking Dead Is Coming to Universal Studios as a Permanent Attraction

Consider yourself warned

The zombie apocalypse just got a little closer to reality: Today, Universal Studios Hollywood announced a new walk-through attraction based on AMC’s The Walking Dead.

Set to open this summer, the experience will allow guests to to wander through a set that mirrors the show’s, complete with attacking flesh-eaters, bloody human remnants left strewn about, and weapons strategically placed such that they can be grabbed in the nick of time.

The attraction will expand Universal’s existing collaboration with the show, a Halloween-time maze called “Halloween Horror Nights.” For the permanent installation, Universal’s top brass have brought on The Walking Dead’s creative team to develop as realistic a take on the show as possible. That will include executive producer and director Greg Nicotero, along with Nicotero’s special effects company, KNB Efx. According to a statement from Universal, Nicotero’s ream will “construct prosthetics, utilize original molds and painstakingly apply paint and detailing to the attraction walkers.”

Here’s a video of what you can expect; and a reminder that this isn’t recommended for kids under 13.
