The Trailer for The Hunstman: Winter’s War Is Totally Confusing, But We Still Want to See the Movie

Mostly because of Emily Blunt and graphics

Today Universal released a trailer for The Huntsman: Winter’s War, which is ostensibly both a prequel and a sequel to Snow White and The Huntsman (2012). Giving a nod to Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, and — in a weird way — Game of Thrones, the trailer reveals literally nothing about Winter’s War‘s plot.

And yet, it still succeeded in making us really, really want to see the movie.

Here’s what we do know from watching this two-and-a-half-minute clip: Charlize Theron reprises her role as Queen Ravenna. Emily Blunt has come on as Ravenna’s sister Freya, and she is mad. Chris Hemsworth is back because Hemsworth; Jessica Chastain plays Sara, whose motivations are altogether unclear; and Kristen Stewart, who played Snow White in the first movie, is nowhere to be found.

Most of what draws the viewer in, as far as we can tell, is Emily Blunt’s hugely convincing scream when she discovers that harm has befallen her baby, and also the super cool graphics that allow evil Ravenna to summon liquid gold as a weapon (and Freya to do the same with ice shards).

Also, Hemsworth.

Watch the trailer below and let us know in the comments if you can find more plot than we did!

The Huntsman: Winter’s War opens on April 22.
