The Los Angeles Philharmonic sure is buzzing. Last week the orchestra announced that Gustavo Dudamel has extended his contract and will stay on as music director through the 2018/19 season.
The week before they announced the Hollywood Bowl summer concert series lineup.
Now they’ve announced the 2011/12 season, which will include seven world premieres, an appearance by conductor laureate Esa-Pekka Salonen, the return of English conductor Sir Simon Rattle, an all-Gershwin program featuring a Herbie Hancock performance of Rhapsody in Blue, and performances of Wagner, Bruckner, Mahler, Mozart, and more.
Talk about jump-starting in the New Year.
