Patty Griffin’s Got a New Set of Blues — And a New Song

If you missed her at SXSW, you can get a taste of her new album online

Goody, goody! We saw Patty Griffin sing some of her new songs earlier this month at SXSW, but now New West Records is teasing us with a track from her upcoming album American Kid.

“Ohio” is a beautiful song. It’s filled with plaintive acoustic guitars and percussion highlights that Robert Plant, who sings harmony on the track, also helped arrange. Did they get married or not? Who knows, but their voices together are pure magic.

American Kid comes out on May 7. It’s Griffin’s seventh album but her first one for New West.
