The honeymoon phase of Pamela Anderson’s and Jon Peters’s marriage barely survived their actual honeymoon. The couple is taking a break from each other just 12 days after their wedding.
“We would be very grateful for your support as we take some time apart to re-evaluate what we want from life and from one another,” the Baywatch and Barbed Wire star told the Hollywood Reporter. “Life is a journey and love is a process. With that universal truth in mind, we have mutually decided to put off the formalization of our marriage certificate and put our faith in the process. Thank you for respecting our privacy.”
A source close to the couple says they hadn’t filed paperwork for a marriage certificate when they wed in a secret ceremony in Malibu on January 20. Anderson, 52, is said to have fled her beachfront home for her native Canada on Saturday. Peters, 74, has not commented on the break and his whereabouts are unknown.
Peters, the legendary producer behind Flashdance, The Witches of Eastwick, Batman, and both versions of A Star is Born, is a marriage veteran—both he and Anderson have taken five trips down the aisle. Anderson wed Tommy Lee, Kid Rock, and went for it twice with Rick Solomon. Peters’s exes are Henrietta Zampitella, Lesley Ann Warren, Christine Forsythe Peters, and Mindy Peters—plus a 12-year affair with Barbra Streisand, who is godmother to one of his daughters.
Peters and Anderson dated for a spell in the 1980s after meeting at the Playboy Mansion. After their wedding vows, Peter said, “Pamela has never seen her full potential as an artist. She has yet to shine in a real way.”
Today, Anderson quoted a Sylvia Plath poem on Twitter, writing, “I want to become acutely aware of all I’ve taken for granted.”
this is now, and now, and now.
Live it, feel it, cling to it.
I want to become acutely aware of all I’ve taken for granted.”
