Long Beach Is Going to Be Totally Dead This Weekend

Zombies are coming, and they want to party

This weekend Long Beach will be hosting its seventh annual Long Beach Zombie Fest, which is exactly what it sounds like. The Rainbow Lagoon (400-403 Shoreline Village Drive) will be teeming with corpses enjoying all sorts of ghoulish activities on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (Oct. 20-22).

Scheduled events include a daily zombie walk, “Thriller” choreography workshop, zombie apocalypse scavenger hunt, haunted maze attraction, and screenings of zombie horror movies.

The festival also runs several contests, providing opportunities to show off your costume, your zombie Watusi skills, or your ability to stomach actual brains. The website notes that the eating contest is “not for the faint of heart.”

Tickets start at $5 for Friday only and go up to $20 for a three-day pass. A team of special effects artists from Cinema Makeup School will be providing free zombie makeovers, so you can “Come in alive, leave drop dead gorgeous.” Your living friends are welcome, too. (In other words, costumes are encouraged but not mandatory.)
