If You Enjoy Camping, Maybe Don’t Watch This Trailer

The Woods will encourage you to stay home, with the doors locked, possibly forever

Granted, this trailer for director Adam Wingard’s new horror movie The Woods gets a lot of mileage out of its chilling, stripped-down cover of The Police hit “Every Breath You Take” (which just graduated from “major stalker vibes” to “pants-soilingly terrifying”). Who knows what’s happening here, but it seems fair to invoke those three magical words for comparison: Blair Witch Project. The autumnal leaves, the “No Entry” sign, the happy campers—in the capable hands of Wingard (who directed 2014’s The Guest, aka the movie where Cousin Matthew truly perished), it’s all going to go so horribly, frighteningly, wonderfully wrong.
