Slide Show: Lenny Kravitz Loves Being Lenny Kravitz

Soaking, smoking, and shirtless: more than 200 photographs document the career of the charismatic rocker

You don’t need to wonder who’s the star of Lenny Kravitz, a large-format book with more than 200 images of the rocker. Make that the rocker, actor, and designer. The stylish musician, who has shown up in the last two Hunger Games flicks and is releasing his tenth record next week, is a busy guy.

The 228-page book is compiled of images taken at photo shoots and in private settings, giving fans a glimpse into his professional and personal lives. Shot by photographers including Mark Seliger, Patrick Demarchelier, and Ellen von Unwerth, the glossy images include a mixture of both casual and high fashion photographs; some are black and white while others are printed in vibrant color.

Some of the best include a shot of him laying on hardwood floor writing song lyrics, one of him soaking in a marble tub while wearing a suit and smoking a cigar, and another of him crashed out and shirtless on the couch of a private jet.

The collection is rounded out by a conversation between Kravitz and his pal, Pharrell Williams, who tells him, “You’re like the eternal searcher. In all the various art projects you involve yourself in, no matter what the discipline is, we can always see your reflection.”

Lenny Kravitz comes out September 23, a week before the debut of Kravitz’s latest album, Strut. Looks like he’s also a smart businessman.
