An Evening with Bill Nye Martin at The Aero Theatre (November 3)
Earlier this week the Pope gave a speech conceding that evolution is not inconsistent with the Catholic Church’s theory of creation, that the two actually go hand in hand. That’s great timing for everyone’s favorite Science Guy from the ’90s to come out with a book on the same topicUndeniable: Evolution and the Science of Creation. He will be discussing his theories on evolution, and signing books after the talk.

Vroman’s 120th anniversary at Vromans Pasadena (November 8)
The much loved bookstore hosts an event celebrating its 120th anniversary. Local author Lisa See (Dreams of Joy, Shanghai Girls) will be the first to add her handprints and signature in cement to the store’s Author Walk of Fame.

Jonathan Lethem at Skylight Books (November 13)
Motherless Brooklyn author Jonathan Lethem (who we profiled a few years ago) will read from his latest book Dissident Gardens. Not enough excitement? He’ll be joined by Pulitzer Prize finalist Lydia Millet who will read from her latest book Mermaids in Paradise.

Red Hen Press’s 20th Anniversary Champagne at The Westin Pasadena (November 16)
L.A.’s own Red Hen Press will be celebrating its 20th anniversary with a champagne luncheon at the Westin. There will be a silent auction and raffle as well as readings by several authors including Richard Blanco, Pete Fromm, Pam Houston, and Sharon Olds.

Robert Baer with Ian Masters at Laemmle’s Music Hall (November 17)

Anne Rice in conversation with Christopher Rice at New Roads School (November 19)
Long before Edward Cullen there was Lestat. You remember the charismatic main character in Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire, right? It has been more than a decade since the last installment of her Vampire Chronicles series, but on October 28 she released her latest book, Prince Lestat: The Vampire Chronicles. She will converse with her son, author Chris Rice, as part of Live Talks Los Angeles.
