Everyone’s out of town for SXSW, but standouts mark the calendar

The migration of the indie music community to Austin for the annual South by Southwest conference/festival/mammoth traffic jam leaves the residency cupboard unusually bare. That doesn’t mean being resigned to a “The Bachelor”-watching fate on March Mondays, though. Here’s a look at the three residency bands keeping your evenings rose-ceremony free for the month.

Conway at the Satellite (March 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30)
The singer/songwriter already has cosigns from Rolling Stone and Noisey and has toured with Ellie Goulding and St. Lucia. With appearances at School Night and her own Grammy showcase already in 2015, this may be the residency that everyone claims to have attended after she gets her big break.
Think: Electro-pop with a sneer.

Dugas at the Bootleg Hi-Fi (March 8, 16, 23 and 29)
After putting together four nights in four weeks at the Hotel Café, the Winnipeg-by-way-of-Nashville outfit heads east to the Bootleg for four more shows. The March 8 gig is the day before the band’s last stand at Hotel Café.
Think: The perfect opening act for Grace Potter and the Nocturnals.

Salt Petal at the Echo (March 16 and 23)
A late-added mini-residency brings the L.A. eight-piece to Echo Park in the middle of the month. The band has performed with Los Amigos Invisibles and will open for Chicago Batman in early April.
Think: Surf rock, Latin America style.
