KCRW and the Annenberg Foundation have announced their lineup for Sound in Focus, a free, all-ages concert series inspired by the “Emerging” exhibit at the Annenberg Space for Photography, which showcases the work of more than 90 up-and-coming photographers. The concerts are held right next to the Annenberg at Century Park in Century City and admission is free, but you need to RSVP for entry. Food and refreshments are available, as well as a beer garden for those 21 and over.
Check out the schedule below:
July 25: Dynamic quartet TV on the Radio headline the first evening. KCRW’s Music Director Jason Bentley hosts the evening and will spin a set of tunes before one of his favorite new bands of the moment, Boxed In, opens the show.
August 1: The headliner is hip-hop trio De La Soul, with DJ Will Holland, (aka Quantic) opening. KCRW DJ Garth Trinidad spins records between sets.
August 8: cow-punk comes to Century Park, with two legendary artists who helped define it: Dwight Yoakam and the entire original line up of seminal Los Angeles punk band X.
August 15: With their raw, bluesy take on rock ‘n’ roll, the Cold War Kids will close the series, with Oklahoma indie darlings Other Lives opening.
