Instagram Pop-Up Happy Place Is Returning After Being Shut Down

Disappointed customers will get first dibs on new tickets

Happy Place—the selfie-friendly pop-up installation that opened in November—was shuttered by authorities over permitting issues related to the Arts District warehouse where the project was located. After weeks of trying to get the doors back open and appease the customers who had bought advance tickets to the experience, Happy Place has confirmed with Los Angeles that they now have a re-opening date and location set. Happy Place will run April 26 to May 27, 2018, on the Event Deck at L.A. Live (1005 Chick Hearn Ct., Los Angeles).

Many would-be guests were pretty, well, unhappy, about the closure and voiced their frustration on Happy Place’s Instagram. Tickets to the pop-up, which was originally scheduled to be staged from November 20 to February 25, sold strongly from the get-go, with many buyers booking weeks or months into the future. When the space was suddenly closed, those buyers received refunds, but the disappointment of missing out on the experience was clear. With that in mind, Happy Place is offering previous ticket holders who received the refunds access to an exclusive pre-sale starting January 29. The general public can order tickets starting February 2.

This new edition of Happy Place will have the installations from the original version, as well as some new surprises, all reconfigured into a 42,000 square-foot tent structure on the elevated deck. “When it became clear that we can no longer host our guests at our previous location, we diligently sought out a new venue that would bring the experience back to life,” founder Jared Paul says. “We are thrilled to have Happy Place at L.A. Live.”
