Get a First Look at Super Nintendo World At Universal Studios Hollywood

Visitors can race with Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach and become an integral part of their universe at the park’s new attraction

Pass through the iconic green pipe and enter Peach’s castle, before venturing further into the colorful Mushroom Kingdom of Super Nintendo World, a 360-degree immersive land that has been in creative works for over seven years and opens Friday at Universal Studios Hollywood.

This all-new, dynamic experience is a spectacle of colors and architectural ingenuity, located within a newly-expanded area of Universal Studios Hollywood. Super Nintendo World features the groundbreaking Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge ride and other interactive activities within the Mushroom Kingdom.

“You’re taking these great environments..they’re magical and we get the challenge of actually bringing them to life and having that illusion be successful,” Universal Studios Vice President of Creative Jon Corfino tells LAMag. He explained the augmented reality element of the attraction further, saying “you’re actually seeing characters that you’re racing against and yet you’re looking at them in this great immersive series of sets and projection and video mapping and special effects. I mean, it’s very immersive.”

Outside of rides and interactive experiences, Super Nintendo World boosts a Toadstool Cafe, which will serve a gourmet menu. Items prepared fresh include Toadstool Cheesy Garlic Knots, Super Mushroom Soup, Piranha Plant Caprese, Mario Bacon Cheeseburger, Luigi Pesto Chicken Burger, Block Tiramisu, and the Princess Peach Cupcake.=

Friday marks Super Nintendo World’s official arrival in the United States. Universal Studios plans to open a second immersive Nintendo experience at their Orlando location soon.
