Four Blocks of Hollywood Boulevard Have Been Shut Down for the Premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Plus closures for the openings of Point Break and The Revenant

Do you drive a car? Do you suffer from road rage? Do you feel the need to punch that man or woman dressed as Chewbacca any time a naive out-of-towner forces you to visit the TLC Chinese Theatres? Then avoid Hollywood Boulevard at all costs: four blocks of the street, from Highland Avenue to La Brea Avenue, have been shut down until 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 15 to prepare for tonight’s premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. (To give you some perspective, the city only shuts down one block of the street for the Oscars). What’s more, Hawthorne Avenue between Orange Drive and Highland Avenue will also be shut down Monday from noon to midnight.

Tonight’s premiere, taking place at the Chinese Theatres, is just one in a trio that will leave traffic a mess over the next three days. Closures will go into effect again on Tuesday and Wednesday for the openings of Point Break and The Revenant (but what about Sisters?!), meaning Hollywood Boulevard will be closed to traffic between 10 a.m. and midnight on both days. Oh, to be the entertainment capital of the world.
