Muggles eager to jump on a broomstick for a Quidditch match can rejoice in a different ball game by slipping on some bowling shoes and joining Dumbledore’s Army for their first bowling night. The event occurs at PV Bowl in Torrance at 8 p.m. this Saturday, the eve of the unofficial Harry Potter Day at Disneyland.
The fan club, founded in July 2008, has more than 550 members between the ages of 21- 54. Though their titular character comes from the Harry Potter universe, the group’s fanaticism extends beyond the gates of Hogwarts. The dedicated followers of Dumbledore pride themselves in being the second largest Harry Potter fan group in the United States. Events like trivia nights and cooking competitions are organized online, and they occur two to three times a month.
For bowling night, wizards and muggles alike are welcome to participate in the raffle and costume contest and get a taste of non-alcoholic Butterbeer along with other magically themed cocktails. All 40 lanes of the bowling alley will be available. For the non-bowlers, vendors will set up tables in “Diagon Alley” with Harry Potter-themed merchandise. This is a public event, so non-members are welcome ($4 for spectators, $11 for a game). Mischief managed!
