Summer’s winding down, but we’re not ready to let go yet. Here’s a bunch of fun stuff to do this weekend, from a Pride celebration in August to San Cha at the Getty.

Ditch Day at W Los Angeles

August 23

If you can skip work and not get fired, hanging out on the W’s WET Deck for Ditch Day sounds at least a little more fun that sitting at your desk all day. DJ Marina Katerina will serve up tunes while Lo-Fi Apertifs and Chandon serve up complimentary spritzes.

DTLA Proud

August 23-25

Pride Month came and went in June, but L.A.’s LGBTQ community isn’t feeling any less proud in August. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, DTLA Proud takes over Pershing Square for three days of performances, DJs, an art installation, drinking, food trucks, and more.

Have a chill yet productive Saturday morning when our annual fitness event returns to the Victorian in Santa Monica. Get charged up with an hourlong workout led by celebrity trainer Mary Miller from The Studio (MDR), and then enjoy a wellness reception with healthy bites and açaí bowls; product sampling from beauty and health brands including MedMen, Vital Proteins, and IFGFit; mini spa treatments by Spa Calamigos and Emerage Medical; and refreshing beverages crafted with Seedlip and Sauza Tequila.

Off the 405: San Cha

The Getty’s outdoor summer concert series rolls on with a set by San Cha. Known for her soulful renditions of Mexican rancheras, San Cha will restage a theatrical concert she performed at Red Bull Music Academy against the breathtaking backdrop of the Getty.

Viva! Pomona

August 24-25

If you’re itching for an excuse to get out of the city, head to downtown Pomona for two days of music. Acts include Beach Goons, Inner Wave, Little Jesus, Show Me the Body, and Y La Bamba. More of a reader than a listener? This year’s festivities also include a zine fest.

Beyond the Hedges with Kate Berlant

August 25

Extremely funny comedian and friend o’ John Early Kate Berlant hosts a night of entertainment at the legendary Tom of Finland House in Echo Park. She’s joined by comedian Beth Stelling, DJ Seth Bogart, and a “very special guest.”
