Welcome to the working week. Here’s our curated guide to some of the best of what’s going on around town.
Monday: Detroit Screening with Kathryn Bigelow
Each year, The Hammer Museum hosts The Contenders, a screening series curated by their pals at NYC’s Museum of Modern Art, highlighting the most influential and significant movies of the year. Tonight features Civil Rights Era drama Detroit, and a conversation with director Kathryn Bigelow and others from the production.
Tuesday: L.A. Zoo Lights
Get your dose of adorable holiday fun tonight with a visit to Zoo Lights at the L.A. Zoo. Stroll the zoo after dark, take in the colorful light displays, make friends with a real-life reindeer, sip on some hot chocolate, and pretend it actually feels like winter .
Wednesday: Vagabond Cheese Pairing Night at Bruery Terreux
Exceptional Belgian-inspired craft brewery Bruery Terreux hosts a pop-up pairing night featuring cheeses from the traveling fromagers of Vagabond Cheese Co. Order a curated flight of beer and cheese tastes to enjoy in the tasting room, or stock up on bottles and wedges to take home.
Thursday: Jay-Z and Vic Mensa at The Forum
Beyoncé’s moderately-famous husband returns, bringing his 4:44 Tour back to The Forum on Thursday. Be sure to get to your seat early enough to catch opener Vic Mensa; the socially-conscious, lyrically-dexterous MC is a star in his own right.
Friday: Jon Brion at Largo
Jon Brion’s residency at Largo is nothing if not a Los Angeles treasure, but his last show of each year is always extra special. Look forward to a holiday spectacular featuring Brion, friends, and guests.
