For Guilt by Association the author and legal commentator drew on her 14 years as an L.A. deputy district attorney. But where are the celebrity defendants? “I wanted to deliver the real world of a D.A.,” says Clark. “Not that [O.J.] Simpson nonsense, which is the bizarro world, but the way we really lived and worked. I missed that time and wanted to relive it and share it with everybody.” Was her heroine’s weapon also true to life? “I won’t confess—not if this is in print.”
