Amy Schumer is speaking out loudly and clearly against body labels in Hollywood and fashion. On her Instagram, Schumer responded today to being included in Glamour magazine’s plus-sized issue.
“I think there’s nothing wrong with being plus size,” she wrote. “I go between a size 6 and an 8.@glamourmag put me in their plus size only issue without asking or letting me know and it doesn’t feel right to me. Young girls seeing my body type thinking that is plus size? What are your thoughts? Mine are not cool glamour not glamourous.”
Nearly 6,000 people have responded to her comment so far, with messages ranging from supportive: “I love you for your boldness. Thanks for speaking out,” to, predictably but sadly, troll-ish assholes: “You ARE NOT a size fucking size 6-8… Get over yourself”
Glamour Editor-in-Chief Cindi Leive responded to Schumer’s comments almost immediately in a five-part message on Twitter. “We love Amy Schumer, & would never want to offend her,” she wrote, adding, “women of all sizes can be inspired by one another’s words. So sorry if implication was otherwise, Amy.”
Here’s the exchange in full:

To be clear, size 6-8 is not plus. (Even size 12—frequent size of “plus” models—is smaller than average American woman!)…

But women of all sizes can be inspired by one another’s words. So sorry if implication was otherwise, Amy.
