Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key are gifting the world a feature film starring themselves, and the news only gets more delightful: Keanu (April 29) centers around the search for a lost kitten who has been kidnapped by gangsters whose leader is played by Method Man.
The film was shot in New Orleans, but takes place in Los Angeles. Here are the three most L.A. things about the movie, as evaluated from the red band trailer (below):
- When Key’s character arrives at Peele’s house, he is carrying cups from In-N-Out.
- The heroes are tipped off that Keanu, the kitten, has been taken by the “17th Street Blips,” likely a mash-up of L.A.’s 18th Street Gang and the city’s notorious Crips.
- Landscaping on all fancy homes is drought-tolerant; a sly but effective public service announcement.
Keanu opens in theaters on April 29, 2016.
