Did you catch Kanye West’s 13-minute MTV Video Music Award speech last night? Yeezy was visibly touched by the screaming fans all around him when he got up to accept the Video Vanguard Award (from Taylor Swift, no less). After planting a smooch on Kim Kardashian, who was wearing what appeared to be one of Robin Hood’s pant legs, West ascended the stage. Once the applause died down, he launched into a messy address peppered with copious “bros” while monologging on everything from fresh juice to artists to—oh yeah—his bid for the presidency in 2020 (he’d certainly make the State of the Union address slightly more interesting).
Don’t forget to lockdown your Kanye 2020 merch, which will look great at West’s concert at the Hollywood Bowl on September 25. He will be performing 808s and Heartbreak in full; a one-off sonic treat for Angelenos who might have appreciated the synthy 2008 departure from Graduation. Tickets go on sale September 4 at 10 a.m., bro.
