10 Things to Do This Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend

Stay occupied before and after your turkey-induced food coma

Thanksgiving Eve Party
The night before Thanksgiving doesn’t get as much hype as Christmas Eve, but it’s still a good excuse to throw back a few cocktails before the relatives arrive. The Continental Club’s seasonal Poison Apple (egg white, lemon, cherry herring, apple spice, and gin garnished with caramel & cinnamon) might be a good place to start. More information (November 25, The Continental Club)

Free Thanksgiving Day Feast
The Laugh Factory will host its 36th Annual free Turkey Day meal, open to anyone in need of a warm meal and friendly company. Comedians (including Dave Chappelle, Tom Arnold, and Kevin Nealon) will perform after each food service. More information (November 26, The Laugh Factory)

The Tofurky Trot
Admit it: you’re going to eat seconds of pumpkin pie, so get a head start burning off those calories with a 5K hosted by the Tofurky company. The run is “open to all ages, fitness levels, and dietary persuasions.” Extra bonus: the guests of honor at the event will be rescued turkeys from The Gentle Barn. More information (November 26, The Rose Bowl)

Thanksgiving Lunch at Aquarium of the Pacific
Make this year’s Thanksgiving one to remember by celebrating with a few marine friends. Menu highlights include Cranberry and Raspberry Salad and Roasted Butternut Squash soup. More information (November 26, Aquarium of the Pacific)

Westside Thanksgiving Community Dinner & Celebration
Looking for a way to volunteer this Thanksgiving? Put your turkey cooking and/or table setting skills to good use on Wednesday or Thursday at this annual community gathering. More information (November 26, VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System North Campus)

Holiday Ice Rink
Since a white Christmas is unlikely, get your holiday spirit-fix in the heart of downtown. General admission to the outdoor ice rink is $9—plus $4 if you need to rent skates. More information (Through January 18, Pershing Square)

Gogol Bordello
This frenetic troupe fronted by Eugene Hütz is all about polyglot rock mixed with Latin rhythms, punk snarls, and accordion-backed Ukrainian sounds. More information (November 27, The Wiltern)

L.A. Zoo Lights
Twinkling LED lights, video projections, and laser beams gussy up the animal campus for the holidays. Youngsters can also commune with a caribou or two at the Santa-approved Reindeer Romp. More information (November 27-January 3)

Stones Throw & Egyptian Lover
Entry and alcohol are free at this event featuring all-vinyl electro DJ sets by Peanut Butter Wolf, J Rock, Egyptian Lover, and Arabian Prince. More information (November 28, 5607 N Figueroa St.)

The Hollywood Christmas Parade
