There are ample ways to help provide or orchestrate a Thanksgiving feast for your community this year. We’ve rounded up a few local organizations that are looking for everything from canned goods to monetary donations to hands-on volunteers—time to step up to the plate (with serving spoon in hand).

Westside Thanksgiving Community Dinner & Celebration

WHEN: Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Thursday beginning at 6 a.m., with shifts at 6 a.m., 8 a.m., 10 a.m, 12 p.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m. You can drop in any time on Wednesday to help with setup, but if you’re planning to show up on Thursday, you need to call a hotline at 310-394-3153. They will assign you a two-hour shift.
WHERE: The VA North Campus on Wilshire and Federal in West Los Angeles
WHAT:
Hundreds of volunteers come together to serve a traditional dinner to veterans, students, low-income families, seniors, the homeless, and anyone else who may be alone for the holiday. The event is fully volunteer-driven; donations including foodstuffs, clothing, toys, and more are all needed. For more information on how you can contribute, visit the event’s donations page.

Union Station Thanksgiving Dinner-In-The-Park

WHEN: Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
WHERE:
Pasadena Central Park
WHAT:
Union Station Homeless Services will be providing thousands of meals on Thanksgiving day. All volunteer positions have been filled, but they’re still in need of supplies: you can donate to the organization, order a pie, or gift an item from Union Station’s Thanksgiving Wish List.

Los Angeles Mission

WHEN: Wednesday beginning at 11 a.m.
WHERE: 303 E 5th St., Los Angeles
WHAT: The Los Angeles Mission provides a meal from some of L.A.’s top chefs to the Skid Row community. This year’s volunteer opportunities are filled, but the organization is still seeking donations.

Food on Foot

WHEN: Thursday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
WHERE:
1625 N. Schrader Ave., Hollywood
WHAT:
The non-profit organization still has some sponsorship opportunities available for their Thanksgiving day meal service. Becoming a sponsor requires a donation of $250, which will go towards the purchase of sleeping bags and food that you’ll distribute day-of, gift cards, and bus tokens. Call 310-860-0022 to reserve your spot.

Gobble Gobble Give

WHEN: Thursday morning
WHERE:
Various location
WHAT:
Last year, the non-profit organization—which not only feeds the homeless in the greater Los Angeles area but also in Detroit, San Diego, Las Vegas, New York, Austin, and elsewhere—provided meals to 17,000 people. RSVP to volunteer on Thanksgiving morning in one of several L.A. neighborhoods.
