Tinder Debuts Account Verification So You No Longer Have to Wonder Whether or Not a Celebrity Really Just Flirted With You

Hold it—there’s a new icon you should look for before swiping right or left on Tinder. It’s a white check mark in a small blue circle, and it signals whether or not an account purporting to belong to someone famous has been verified.

According to a tight-lipped statement released by the dating app, “Tinder Verified Profiles” will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and only a limited number of accounts will be considered to start. (Oddly, the company’s not naming names—or any other information—at this time.) You can see how the changes will look above.

Practically speaking, the idea makes sense in Los Angeles, where finding happily ever after with someone who has a fan club has always been possible for commoners with access. Not having to score backstage passes, greenroom invites, and yoga certifications to find love across the fame divide? That’s a set-up so inclusive, it’s kinda romantic.
