Teachers, LAUSD Save 5,000 Jobs


With the 2010-11 school year coming to a close, LAUSD teachers have ratified a one-year labor contract with the district to save approximately 5,000 jobs and keep class sizes down for the 2011-12 school year, reports the Daily News

According to United Teachers Los Angeles spokeswoman Marla Eby, 20,429 teachers voted to approve the contract, which will be ratified by the LAUSD board on June 14.

Union president A.J. Duffy says they will now turn their attention to finding long-term solutions to the budget crisis.
